The Sacred Land of Pandavas
Pandukeshwar, located at an altitude of 1,829 meters in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is believed to be the place where King Pandu performed penance. The name "Pandukeshwar" literally means "Lord of Pandu" or "The Place of Pandu."
Mythological Significance
According to the Mahabharata, King Pandu chose this serene location for his penance after being cursed. It is said that the Pandavas were born here, making this land sacred to millions of Hindu devotees. The Yog Badri temple here is one of the Panch Badri pilgrimage sites.
Winter Capital of Badrinath
During the harsh winter months when Badrinath Temple closes due to heavy snowfall, the Utsav Murti (processional deity) is brought to Pandukeshwar. This makes the village an important pilgrimage center throughout the year.

How to Reach
